Mission and Vision
Mission
The Consortium is a non-profit community development corporation dedicated to the human, social, economic and physical improvement of Uptown Cincinnati. Uptown is located just north of downtown and the Consortium’s areas of focus generally include the neighborhoods of Avondale, Clifton, Clifton Heights, Corryville, Fairview, Mt. Auburn and University Heights. The Consortium will undertake a variety of investment and program activities in Uptown to help provide housing, health care and job opportunities

Uptown is Cincinnati’s dominant regional center of learning and healthcare infused with the energy of vibrant and diverse neighborhoods.
Our Community:
The Uptown Consortium was founded in 2004 as a non-profit development organization dedicated to restoring and revitalizing Uptown Cincinnati. Uptown is perch on the Northern rim of downtown Cincinnati, an evaluation that provides some of the city’s most stunning views. Uptown Cincinnati includes the neighborhoods of Avondale, Clifton, Clifton Heights, Corryville, Fairview, Mt. Auburn and University Heights. Uptown’s population is just over 51,000 or about 15% of the Cincinnati population
Our Objectives:
1. Unify Uptown’s culturally diverse neighborhoods and create a clear sense of place by focusing on initiatives for public safety, transportation, housing and home ownership, economic development and integrated social services for neighborhood residents.
2. In Housing, create new and renovated housing and promote Uptown neighborhoods as vibrant communities of “first choice” where people of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds live, work, learn, and play together.
3. Promote Economic Development efforts through integrated strategies that address physical improvements to housing, infrastructure, and commercial areas increasing community economic assets, and creation and expansion of commercial, industrial, life sciences, healthcare and educational related services.
4. In Public Safety, ensure that Uptown is a safe, attractive and walkable community for its residents, employees, students and visitors, and is welcoming to all.
5. In Transportation, create a clear sense of direction, distinct place and better access to neighborhoods, retail centers and major institutions.

Pathways to Success
2004-Uptown Consortium, Inc. founded Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, The Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, TriHealth, Inc, University of Cincinnati.
2005-Uptown Strategic Plan adopted from a series of neighborhood summits.
2006-Consortium closes a $52 million New Markets Tax Credit Fund and pioneers use for land assemblage and pre-development activities in Avondale and Corryville.
2007-Construction starts on Phase 2 - $85 million commercial development on Burnet Avenue. The redevelopment initiative includes new office for the Cincinnati Herald and over 200,000 sf of office space.
2007–The Consortium, City of Cincinnati, OKI, SORTA and others contribute over $4 million to study transportation, traffic congestion and invest in wayfinding signage for Uptown neighborhoods.
2008-Fannie Mae presents the consortium with a $100,000 grant to help expand affordable housing which leverages $13 million in low income housing through partnerships with the Model Group in the Avondale neighborhood.
2008–Uptown Consortium affiliate acquires Corryville neighborhood (VCURC) portfolio for $3 million and announces Towne Properties as Development Advisors for Short Vine Redevelopment identifying $50 million in development projects.
